What is a Modern Apprenticeship?

A Modern Apprenticeship offers practical, 'on-the-job' training in a wide range of industries. You'll be taught the skills required to continue working in that field, gaining a qualification that will allow you to pursue a permanent job.

Modern Apprenticeships are open to anyone aged 16 or over and usually last between one and four years, depending on the industry you're working in. As well as learning in the workplace, you're likely to receive some training at a local college or centre.

While you're completing your apprenticeship, you'll earn a wage. It's easy to understand why a lot of people see an advantage in being able to work, earn, and gain a qualification at the same time!
